Do you ride a bike to school?

Long Beach is California's home of the nation's first bike station. CSULB has a cyclists meeting every other Monday in the University Student Union at 1p.m. They have weekly rides, scavenger hunts, and bike checks.

If students make their registration information, including serial number, available to law enforcement agencies it increases the likelihood of their bike being found and returned in the event it is stolen.

Bicycle licenses are issued every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at every fire station in Long Beach The cost for a license is $2.00 for each bicycle licensed. If available, bring proof of purchase to make registration easier.
CSULB Bike Share plans to team-up with Solar-Powered CycleStations, whenever there is a receipt of funding. This would allow students, faculty and staff to check out bicycles. They would be able to check out a bike to get around campus, and then return it at any CycleStation location.Every second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am - 1:00 pm there are bike checks performed in the Quad by Bicycle mechanics from Jones Bicycle.

There is an up and coming Long Beach Bicycle Festival April 3-4, 2009. Activities include but are not limited to competitive cycling,a children's tricycle course, a beer and wine garden and live music.

In addition to CSULB's Bike Program, the city of Long Beach has one as well by the name of Bike Station of Long Beach.
Bike station Long Beach is located on First Street Transit Mall Downtown Long Beach. There are more than 30 miles of bicycle paths and routes for both bicycles and cars.

Bike station Long Beach offers indoor bicycle parking which is free during regular business hours as well as professional repair services.
