Watch out for these delays on Campus-this summer!
CSULB Summer Construction
This summer gate arms will be added this summer to Lot 6.
Lot 8 will be closed until early 2011 due to PH3 replacement (Hall of Science Project.)There will be a Hall of Science Project on East Campus Drive so expect delays as concrete trucks/pumps will be in and out of construction area. Parking and Access Services will be working in the summer to make more general parking spaces available. Cal State Long Beach is reviewing their the school’s space inventory, meter usage, and carpool stalls in order to improve the school’s services to citizens on campus.
Cal State Long Beach is always crying broke. If the school is so broke why are we doing construction updates and getting new MAC computers in our computer labs? It does not add up. Something does not make sense. The students and their parents are constantly adding to the collection plate of Cal State Long Beach to see little results.
Construction management provides services such as building inspections, project management, estimating costs for projects, management during the construction phase and notifying areas affected by construction projects.
Construction management has been on the campus for many years now assisting with various projects on campus. Their services benefit not only students but faculty and staff of the University. For questions and concerns, citizens may contact Enrique Robles, Senior Construction Manager.
If you have any questions about construction updates please contact (562)985-4175. Construction management will be more than happy to assist you.

Do you ride a bike to school?
Long Beach is California's home of the nation's first bike station. CSULB has a cyclists meeting every other Monday in the University Student Union at 1p.m. They have weekly rides, scavenger hunts, and bike checks.
If students make their registration information, including serial number, available to law enforcement agencies it increases the likelihood of their bike being found and returned in the event it is stolen.
Bicycle licenses are issued every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at every fire station in Long Beach The cost for a license is $2.00 for each bicycle licensed. If available, bring proof of purchase to make registration easier.
CSULB Bike Share plans to team-up with Solar-Powered CycleStations, whenever there is a receipt of funding. This would allow students, faculty and staff to check out bicycles. They would be able to check out a bike to get around campus, and then return it at any CycleStation location.Every second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am - 1:00 pm there are bike checks performed in the Quad by Bicycle mechanics from Jones Bicycle.
There is an up and coming Long Beach Bicycle Festival April 3-4, 2009. Activities include but are not limited to competitive cycling,a children's tricycle course, a beer and wine garden and live music.
In addition to CSULB's Bike Program, the city of Long Beach has one as well by the name of Bike Station of Long Beach.
Bike station Long Beach is located on First Street Transit Mall Downtown Long Beach. There are more than 30 miles of bicycle paths and routes for both bicycles and cars.
Bike station Long Beach offers indoor bicycle parking which is free during regular business hours as well as professional repair services.

Residents not satisfied with CSULB parking
Although students pay an arm and a leg for parking at CSULB, local residents are still not satisfied with the parking. Residents are complaining that students are taking up parking in a nearby elementary school and one to two hour parking on streets. If it is not bad enough that CSULB pampers the residents by paying for their residential permits, the residents want tighter restrictions on parking.
Patrick O'Donnell, the fourth district council member of Long Beach, said the university agreed to pay up to $12,000 this year for resident's preferential parking permits, according to the Daily 49er.
If it is not enough students fork out money to the university they do not have, residents want to place even tighter restrictions on parking in nearby neighborhoods. Residents claim they have seen students park on their street then walk to residential halls....Okay...and your point???
Students are tortured enough at CSULB. Students must fight traffic to get to school, then while at school, scramble for a parking space, then you must hike for ten to fifteen minutes to get to class. Whew it really sounds fun attended CSULB. Residents could careless about the students pain of parking. All the residents care about are their well manicured lawns. If they would try for just once to look at it from the students perspective, they would have a total change of heart.
Some of the residents are even talking about banning parking on their streets on the weekend.
Students pay high priced fees, are struggling working and attending school, the least of their problems should be a parking space.
